Mollie Sugden - 7/21/22 to 7/1/09 "Have either of you gentlemen seen my pussy?"

I just found out a few hours ago that British actress Mollie Sugden died on July 1 at the age of 86. What a dear, sweet, gentle lady she was who portrayed the bold, acid-tongued, tough-as-nails department store employee Mrs. Slocombe in the wonderful BBC series "Are You Being Served?". Of all the entertainment related deaths recently, this one affects me the most. Here's to you, Mrs. Slocombe, may you live forever in out hearts!

"Speaking just for myself, and I am unanimous in this!"
"Weak as water! Weak as water!"
"Captain Peacock, are you free?"
"Mr Humphries, leave my pussy alone!"

Damn...that's one of my favorite Britcoms. Know they are all getting up there in years, but still sad to see them go. Thanks for the info.

Yes, how sad, just loved her, she was a key part to that show. I've watched that show for some 20 years, and still watch episodes I've seen a 100 times, God Bless You Molly!

Her death breaks my heart. I miss her terribly. When I watched Are you Being Served last night I cried a river full of tears. She's gone and so is John Inman/Mr. Humphries and Wendy Richard/Ms. Brahms. Thank you for the wonderful laughs and memories Mrs. Slocom. It's a sadder place here with you gone. However, I bet heaven is ringing with laughter now.

I just discovered this show a few months back and become obsessed with it, burning through the first 6 seasons via Netflix. It was an endearing show, and she was an endearing actress/comedienne.

One of my favourites was:

"Captain Peacock, I do not respond to any man's finger!" :-D

Lovely stuff. She was a legend. We won't see her like again, sadly...

Hi, Chris here (reayx5)... from GroovyFab; I had lost the link to your site and just came upon it again. Yay!!!

Sad news about Mollie. "Are You Being Served?" was always a favorite of mine. It's sort of like "I Love Lucy" to me. I will watch it, even though I've seen it 100 times.

Chris

A TV show from my teenage years, and I still find it funny to this day.

A sad loss of yet another great actress. Rest in Peace Molly.
